Old Spice, marketer of antiperspirant/deodorant stick and personal cleansing for men in the U.S., is employing the services of two-time NASCAR Nextel Cup Series champion Tony Stewart both on and off the track during the upcoming NASCAR season. Stewart will be back behind the wheel of the #33 Old Spice Chevrolet Monte Carlo, owned by Kevin Harvick, Inc., for eight NASCAR Busch Series races this season. Stewart will debut the car in the Busch Series season opener Feb. 17 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, a race he has won the last two years. Success for Stewart — as well as his teammate, Denny Hamlin — on the racetrack will translate into a windfall for Stewart’s namesake charity. Like last season, each time Stewart wins a race (Nextel Cup, Busch or NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series) Old Spice will auction his autographed towel that is used and seen in victory lane interviews to a lucky fan on eBay. This year, Old Spice also will be sponsoring Hamlin as a driver, and his Victory Towels will be auctioned off as well. Proceeds for all auctions will benefit the Tony Stewart Foundation. Fans can place a bid for each towel by logging onto OldSpice.com shortly after the race. “With two Nextel Cup Series titles and nine other auto racing championships, Tony’s vast experience makes him a perfect fit for Old Spice,” said Old Spice brand manager Carl Stealey. “We’re excited to continue working with Tony and now Denny, as we’re always looking for new ways to expand our relationship with the sport and its standout drivers.”
